In a living room, the orchid trend creates a calm and peaceful ambience. For ideas and tips on recreating this look in your bedroom, click here.
Light finish furniture is ideal for this trend as it adds to the airy feeling of the room. Our Windsor oak long TV cabinet with glass doors (2) is very well suited to this theme. For other items of living room furniture in our Windsor oak range, click here.
A great piece of wall art will make an excellent focal point in your room – consider placing it above a fireplace (if you have one) or somewhere central for maximum impact. I’ve picked a piece with purple flowers from Debenhams (8) but if flowers aren’t your thing, there are plenty purple based pieces of art on the high street that go well with the orchid trend.
Chilly nights in front of the box just won’t be cosy without some soft furnishings. To tie in with the orchid theme, pick vibrant purple soft furnishings such as the throw from Marks & Spencer (6), the fluffy cushion from Debenhams (4) and the hand-knitted pouf from BHS (5).
It’s important to have a nice shade for your central light as picking one that goes well with your theme will give your living room a well put together feel. The one from Debenhams (1) is an ideal choice as the colour fits in with the orchid trend and it has a modern look that will update any room.
Finishing touches tie a room together. Consider placing a fresh bunch of white flowers – such as carnations, daisies, lilies or roses, depending on your budget and preference – in a purple vase, such as the one featured from House of Fraser (9) in the centre of your coffee table – if you need a new coffee table, click here to see all our oak coffee tables. A nice photo frame, such as the one featured from Debenhams (4) placed next to the vase, on a mantelpiece, windowsill, or shelf will look great. The candlesticks from Next (3) will tie the room together when placed in the corner of a windowsill, at the far side of a mantelpiece, or in the corner of a room.
